The Cleveland Guardians starting pitcher exited Sunday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays after appearing to cramp up on the mound.
Bibee threw his first warm-up pitch of the sixth inning before motioning for the trainer to come out. He was given Gatorade and attempted to awaken his upper legs, but ultimately decided he could not continue.
Through five innings, the 26-year-old allowed three runs (two earned), five hits and two walks while striking out three.
Lefty Tim Herrin entered in relief and pitched around a hit batter for a clean inning.
Bibee started the season as Cleveland’s supposed ace but has slumped to a 4.36 ERA in six starts prior to Sunday.
