GT4s Lead Rain-Soaked Second Practice at Sonoma

GT4 machinery topped the overall time charts in a rain-impacted and red-flagged second GT America powered by AWS practice session of the weekend at Sonoma Raceway.

Denny Stripling, in the No. 188 Fast Track Racing BMW M4 GT4 EVO, recorded the best lap of the 30-minute session, thanks to a 2:09.366 time.

It was 0.184 seconds quicker than fellow GT4 competitor Curt Swearingin in the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.

Anthony McIntosh was third quickest in the No. 69 JTR Motorsports Engineering Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2.

Mirco Schultis was the fastest SRO3 class competitor in GT3 machinery, thanks to a 2:10.620 lap time by the German in his Callaway Corvette C7-R.

The No. 007 ProSport Competition Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of Tim Savage completed the overall top-five.

Eleven of the 14 entries set time in the session, which was interrupted halfway through for an accident by Elias Sabo in the No. 80 Flying Lizard Motorsports BMW M4 GT3 EVO in the first sector.

The session resumed with nine minutes left on the clock, which saw the majority of improvements.

Qualifying is set for Saturday at 8:40 a.m. PST.
