The House GOP leaders responsible for launching an impeachment investigation into former President Biden have invited two key witnesses as their guests for President Trump’s address to Congress.

House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-K.Y.) and Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) will bring IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler as their guests to Trump's speech Tuesday night.

Shapley and Ziegler were assigned to the team investigating Hunter Biden, saying the Justice Department slow-walked the case and failed to pursue the most aggressive charges against the then-president’s son.

Amid the GOP investigation, prosecutor David Weiss was elevated to special counsel, ultimately bringing charges against Hunter Biden in California as the two IRS agents suggested.

While Hunter Biden was convicted in a Delaware gun case brought by Weiss and pleaded guilty in the California tax case, his father pardoned him on his way out of office, ending the younger Biden's legal troubles.

"Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler embody the highest standards of the federal workforce. They are honorable public servants who risked their careers and livelihoods to expose misconduct and politicization in the federal criminal investigation of Hunter Biden,” Comer and Jordan said in a joint statement Tuesday.

In addition to concerns about the tax investigation, Republicans had also floated that both Bidens had allegedly accepted a bribe tied to their work in Ukraine. But the FBI informant who relayed that tip was later arrested and pleaded guilty on charges related to lying to the bureau after he fabricated the claim.
