Gavin McKenna’s historic point streak in the WHL has come to an end.
The Medicine Hat Tigers star was held off the scoresheet in Sunday’s 6-2 loss to the Spokane Chiefs in Game 2 of the WHL Final.
The 17-year-old McKenna had scored a point in 54 straight games dating back to Nov. 2, the longest point streak in CHL history.
Overall, he was second in the WHL in scoring this season with 129 points in 56 games, and he’s added another 37 points in 16 playoff games.
The Whitehorse native is projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
Chiefs forward Berkly Catton had two goals and an assist, and they scored four times in the first period en route to the win.
Rasmus Ekstrom, Shea Van Olm, Owen Martin and Mathis Preston also scored for the Chiefs, who lost Friday’s opener 4-1. Andrew Cristall chipped in with two assists.
Cayden Lindstrom and Bryce Pickford scored for the Tigers.
The WHL Final is now tied 1-1, with the series switching to Spokane for the next three games.
