Gavin McKenna sets CHL modern-era record with 51-game point streak

Gavin McKenna is alone in the history books. The Medicine Hat Tigers star extended his point streak to a CHL modern-era (since 2000) single-season record 51 games with an assist on his team’s first goal Saturday night in Game 2 of the WHL’s Eastern Conference final against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. McKenna drew an assist on Oasiz Wiesblatt’s goal just 2:37 into the game. McKenna tied Alexander Radulov’s 50-game mark (2005-06 with Quebec Remparts) one night earlier in a series-opening victory for Medicine Hat. The first game in McKenna’s streak was Nov. 6 when he scored a goal and two assists, also against the Hurricanes. McKenna, 17, is the heavy favourite to go first overall in the 2026 NHL Draft. The Whitehorse native was second in WHL scoring this season with 41 goals and 88 assists for 129 points in 56 games.
