French Open betting guide: Our tips ahead of 2025’s second tennis major
The 2025 French Open is set to get underway at the iconic Roland Garros in Paris, marking the second Grand Slam of the tennis calendar and the sport’s premier clay-court championship. As one of the four major tournaments, alongside the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open, the French Open holds a distinct place in the tennis world, as conquering Roland Garros is the ultimate test of a players ability. Carlos Alcaraz is the men’s defending champion, Iga Świątek, the women’s. In our French Open tips below, we assess their chances of retaining their titles, along with taking a look at the three doubles and wheelchair events. French Open 2025 quick tips Carlos Alcarez to win the Men’s French Open – 6/4 with talkSPORT Bet Aryna Sabalenka to win the Women’s French Open – 5/2 with Midnite Mate Pavić and Marcelo Arévalo to win the men’s doubles – odds to follow Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid to win the men’s wheelchair doubles – odds to follow Who’s in form ahead of the French Open? The three in-form men ahead of the French Open are Carlos Alcarez, Casper Ruud and Jack Draper. Alcarez has won the Monte-Carlo Masters on clay, and Ruud won the Madrid Open. Britain’s Jack Draper has also continued to impress. He reached the final in Madrid, and is now inside the world’s top ten ranked players. On the flip side, world No.1 Jannik Sinner has just returned from a ban and maybe won’t be up to speed for the start of the tournament, while 2023 champion, Novak Djokovic has struggled on the clay, and recently split from coach Andy Murray. Aryna Sabalenka is the No.1 ranked woman in the world and is currently the dominant force in the female game. The two-time Grand Slam champion is in good form on the clay, having won the Madrid Open and reaching the final in Stuttgart. Another player currently performing well on the women’s circuit is Coco Guaff. The 21-year-old’s consistent form has seen her rise to No.3 in the world, and she also has a French Open final to her name, after losing to Iga Świątek in the 2022 final. The aforementioned Świątek has had a poor run of form on all surfaces and it remains to be seen if her preference for clay can see her come good again in Paris. Carlos Alcaraz to defend his men’s singles title With Jannik Sinner only just returning from a three-month ban, Carlos Alcaraz looks the man to beat in Paris. Not only is the Spaniard the defending champion, he can also point to his stunning five-set semi-final win over Sinner in the 2024 edition as further proof that he is the man to beat on clay. Furthermore, Alcaraz has been in good form in recent weeks. The Roland Garros defending champion has won the Monte-Carlo Masters and also reached the final in Barcelona. Jannik Sinner still can’t be ruled out. Before his suspension he triumphed at the Shanghai Masters, ATP Finals and the Australian Open. And with the Paris event being a two-week long tournament, the world No.1 has time to play himself back into form. Also coming good in the men’s game are Casper Ruud and Jack Draper. Ruud is a real dark horse with two Paris finals to his name and a tournament win on clay in recent weeks. As for Britain’s Jack Draper, he has continued to impress in recent weeks and months. But despite his meteoric rise, the 23-year-old may not yet possess the fitness and composure to win a Grand Slam event. Taking all that into account makes a bet on the Spanish boy-wonder look like the more sensible option. Back Carlos Alcaraz to win the French Open at 6/4 with TalkSPORT Bet Aryna Sabalenka to break Świątek’s Paris domination and win first French Open title It’s very difficult to look past Aryna Sabalenka when it comes to selecting a pick to win the women’s title. It’s not all cut and dry, though. Sabalenka is over 4000 points clear of her rivals at the top of the women’s rankings. She has been a consistent performer, but she has dropped finals she was expected to win in recent months. The 27-year-old unexpectedly lost the final of the Australian Open against Madison Keys in January. She also lost finals at Indian Wells and Stuttgart. But, underlining Sabelanka’s incredible consistency are her wins at the Miami Open and on the clay in Madrid, where she defeated Coco Guaff in two sets. Further increasing Sabalenka’s chances of a first Grand Slam win in Paris is the poor form of four-time French Open winner Iga Świątek, who hasn’t reached the final of any event since she won the title at Roland Garros in 2024. Rather than looking towards Świątek as Sabelanka’s biggest threat, it is more likely that it will come from Coco Guaff. The American has a decent record in Paris, having reached the final in 2022 and semi-final in 2024. Guaff is also in good form having reached the final in Madrid and will have further grown in confidence and self belief after winning the 2024 WTA Finals. The bookmakers are strugg
