Floyd Mayweather flaunts $144k March Madness winning bets after Paige Bueckers and Gators NCAA triumphs
Floyd Mayweather has won big on the men’s and women’s NCAA Tournaments after a series of big wagers came good. The last few weeks have be dominated by college basketball with the men’s and women’s NCAA tournaments — also known as March Madness — taking place in the US. Floyd Mayweather won big with his bets on the NCAA finalsGetty The NCAA tournaments served up a thrilling few weeks of basketball that culminated over the weekend and into Monday. In the men’s bracket, the Florida Gators were crowned national champions after they rallied to overturn a 12-point deficit against the Houston Cougars in the championship game, claiming their first NCAA title in 18 years. On the women’s side, UConn ended their nine-year drought for a national championship as they won a remarkable 12th title overall in what was the perfect send off for WNBA bound Paige Bueckers. March Madness is one of the biggest betting events on the US sports calender. In 2025, it was estimated that $3.1 billion would be bet on it in the US. Undefeated boxing legend Mayweather was very much amongst the winners this year, and he took to Instagram to share his sizeable earnings in a series of posts captioned: “My Final Four… Money May Madness ”. Florida’s win over Houston would have delighted ‘Money Mayweather’ as the 48-year-old won a whopping $51,545.45 on the outcome of the game after an initial $27,000 stake. That wasn’t his only bet on Florida this tournament either, as he placed $17,000 on the Gators to beat Auburn in the Final Four. The 79-73 victory earned Floyd a cool $31,782.60. The bets didn’t stop there, with Mayweather sharing a further two slips. The American combat sports icon also placed a $21,700 bet on UConn to beat UCLA in the women’s Final Four match up. After the Huskies’ victory, he received $42,366.65. The final bet from Mayweather was a little less extravagant, as he placed a $10,000 ticket on Duke to win the first half of their Final Four clash against Houston, which the Blue Devils did, and so his payout was $19,090.90. It turned out to be a very smart choice as Duke would end up losing the match after surrendering a 14-point lead. The undefeated boxing star has made a habit of betting big on sportsGetty In total, Mayweather collected a staggering $144,875.60 from those four bets alone, a healthy top-up to the string of massive payouts he has won and shared on social media in recent years. In February, the 15-time world champion backed the Philadelphia Eagles to clinch their second ever Super Bowl by placing $40,000 on them. The Eagles demolished the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, and as a result Mayweather pocketed $29,629.65 in total winnings, with the bet returning a tidy $69,629.65. He also placed a separate bet of $30,000 on the same outcome, but just in the first half, which landed him another $29,126.20 in winnings, with a total take-home fund of $59,126.20. The Eagles’ win would serve as a slice of revenge for Mayweather after he lost $10,000 on them in 2023. He backed them to beat the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII but they lost as Patrick Mahomes led his side to a 38-35 win. However, he did post a a successful second betting slip which showed he’d also staked $10,000 on the Eagles to lead at half-time, which they did, with a pay-out of $20,500. With a slew of major sporting events approaching, it likely won’t be long before Mayweather flaunts his next massive jackpot online.
