Sandler returns to the titular role for the new film, which will be available on Netflix from July 2025. A trailer for the movie was released on Tuesday featuring the like of Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau. Thomas will also appear in the film and the 31-year-old has lifted the lid on the experience of being on a movie set. Admitting the challenges it presented, he said: “I mean, I would say if you put us in any situation outside of golfers it would be extremely uncomfortable, but at least we’re able to somewhat be ourselves.” The former world number one added: “I definitely realized pretty quickly how often I quote Adam Sandler movies in my everyday life. “Because when you’re around the person you naturally don’t want to do that to not make yourself kind of look stupid.” Thomas has made no secret of his love for Sandler’s movies, especially Happy Gilmore. Speaking at the WM Phoenix Open in February, he revealed: “I mean, that movie, that generation of movies is literally what we grew up on, and I realized how many Adam Sandler quotes I use in my daily life when I’m around him…” Thomas later joked: “But it was borderline very excessive, I started to realize, on my end, so it was almost a reality check. It was very, very cool.” GettyThomas is amongst the golfers featuring in the upcoming film[/caption] GettyThe former world number one joked he had to stop himself from quoting Sandler films[/caption] The world number 10 is fresh from making history at last weekend’s Players Championship. His 10-under-par 62 in the second round on Friday equalled the course record at TPC Sawgrass. However, Thomas went on to finish tied for 33rd on two under at the end of the tournament. Meanwhile, McIlroy scooped the $4.5million (£3.5m) prize after beating JJ Spaun in a three-hole play-off on Monday. As for Thomas, he is already turning his attention to this week’s Valspar Championship. Despite having 15 PGA Tour wins to his name, Thomas has not won on the tour since his second PGA Championship triumph in 2022. The American will begin his first round in Florida at 5.23pm GMT on Thursday. Thomas will tee off alongside compatriot Jordan Spieth and Australia’s Karl Vilips.
