Eric Dier snubs new Bayern Munich contract to agree Champions League move despite Harry Kane plea
Bayern Munich have confirmed Eric Dier will leave the German giants at the end of the season after turning down a new contract. While out of favour in the first half of this season, the centre-back has been a first-team regular under Vincent Kompany since the start of February. Bayern director Christoph Freund revealed the club were in talks with Dier over a contract extension, but the former Spurs man looks set to snub those talks in favour of a European rival. Freund confirmed the news on Friday in a press conference before their Bundesliga clash against RB Leipzig, where victory will wrap up the title with two games to spare, having been top of the league since Matchday three. “We had discussions with Eric about a new contract,” said the Bayern chief. “He told us that he doesn’t want to extend and will leave us. “He’s a great guy. We had a great time together. Hopefully he crowns his time with us with his first title.” The news will come as a bitter blow to Harry Kane, who expressed his desire for Dier to stay with Bayern into next season.
