Dodgers place Blake Snell on 15-day IL with left shoulder inflammation
Blake Snell is hitting the injured list after just two starts. The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Snell on the 15-day IL due to left shoulder inflammation on Sunday and recalled right-hander Matt Sauer from triple-A in a corresponding move. After landing a five-year, $182-million contract with the reigning World Series champs in the off-season, Snell has thrown nine innings through his first two outings with his new club. The two-time Cy Young winner has allowed two runs while walking eight and striking out four. He last threw on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves, allowing five unearned runs over four innings of work. Snell, 32, posted a 3.12 ERA over 104 innings with the San Francisco Giants in 2024. He was only able to make 20 starts due to multiple stints on the injured list with groin and adductor ailments. Los Angeles enters play Saturday with an MLB-best 9-1 record as it continues a series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Snell’s next turn through the rotation was scheduled for Tuesday against the Washington Nationals. The Dodgers did not immediately reveal who would fill that spot.
