Disney Lorcana Next Chapter Livestream: Everything Revealed For The Future Of Lorcana

Disney Lorcana has been slowly building steam since it first launched in August 2023, as the trading card game featuring fan favorites and lesser-known classics from Disney's portfolio of characters has appealed to collectors and competitors alike. With the eighth set, Return Of Jafar, completing the game's second year on June 6, Ravensburger has decided to shake things up a bit; today, the company revealed multiple big changes to both collecting Lorcana cards and competing in Lorcana events.

The one-hour livestream, called the "Next Chapter Of Lorcana," unveiled new cards for Reign of Jafar, but also focused on the ninth set, Fabled, which launches this fall. Fabled marks an inflection point for Lorcana competitively, as it will be the first set to feature reprints of cards from previous Lorcana sets--with the reason for the reprints, Lorcana's first-ever set rotation, also announced during the stream.

Ravensburger also unveiled two new card rarities during the stream--Epic, which is lower than Enchanted but higher than Legendary, and Iconic, which is the most ultra of ultra-rare cards. Collection Starter Set

This new package will include a special promo version of Tinker Bell - Giant Fairy, four Fabled booster packs, and a binder for storing cards. No official release date was revealed--only that it's "coming soon."

Cards featuring characters from A Goofy Movie will also be part of the Fabled set, though none were shown during the livestream.

New rarities

Two new rarities will be introduced into Lorcana with the Fabled set:

• Epic, which is more rare than Legendary but easier to find than Enchanted
• Iconic, which is the rarest of the rare with custom foil patterns and 3D effects

Elsa - Snow Queen (Epic)

Elsa - Snow Queen (originally from The First Chapter) was revealed as an example of the new Epic rarity.

Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Prince (Iconic)

Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Prince will be one of only two Iconic-rare cards in the Fabled set. The other will be Minnie Mouse, and the art will be the other half of the art featured earlier in the gallery.

Set rotation

Beginning with Fabled, all sets from the first year of Lorcana's history--The First Chapter, Rise Of The Floodborn, Into The Inklands, and Ursula's Return--will rotate out of the Core Constructed competitive format. If a card is reprinted in a future set, however, all versions of the card will be legal; for example, players can use Stitch - Rock Star from The First Chapter, since he is part of Fabled.

Next year, all Year Two sets--Shimmering Skies, Azurite Sea, Archazia's Island, and Reign of Jafar--will rotate out as well.

Infinity Constructed

With set rotation in Core Constructed comes a brand-new format, Infinity Constructed, which will be an "eternal" set--outside of specific card bannings, every card from Lorcana history will be legal in Infinity Constructed decks.

Disney Lorcana World Championship

The 2025 Lorcana World Championships will take place June 28-29 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. It will only be open to the players and the production team, but it will be livestreamed on the official Lorcana Twitch channel.

Illumineer's Quest - Palace Heist

Another Illumineer's Quest has been confirmed to release alongside Reign of Jafar, and this time up to four players will try to sneak into Jafar's palace and steal the Hexwell Crown, while battling Jafar and his illusions.

Reign of Jafar

Multiple new cards were shown from the next set in the Lorcana lineup, Reign of Jafar. Jafar - High Sultan of Lorcana is the marquee villain at Super Rare.

Jasmine - Steady Strategist

Jasmine will be one of the main heroes fighting against Jafar, with her card, Steady Strategist, found at Super Rare.

Jasmine - Steady Strategist will also be one of Reign of Jafar's Enchanted cards.

Magic Carpet - Phantom Rug

Aladdin's Magic Carpet is one of the Illusion-type cards revealed to be part of Jafar's army.

Palace Guard - Spectral Sentry

An unnamed Palace Guard serves as another one of Jafar's illusions.

Bambi - Prince of the Forest

Bambi makes his Lorcana debut in Reign of Jafar, along with a few of his woodland friends.

Flower - Shy Skunk

Rapunzel - High Climber

The first Legendary card shown from Reign of Jafar is Rapunzel - High Climber.

Whispers In The Well

Whispers In The Well was confirmed to be the name of the 10th Lorcana set, though only a piece of teaser art was shown--with an emphasis on the gargoyles in the background.

Darkwing Duck

The final announcement of the livestream finally answered a common fan request: Darkwing Duck will enter the realm of Lorcana in 2026.
