Derek Chisora issues Oleksandr Usyk plea as he outlines plans for farewell 50th fight

Derek Chisora has urged Oleksandr Usyk to defend his world title against Joseph Parker as opposed to Daniel Dubois. Dubois was due to defend his IBF heavyweight belt against Parker in February, but pulled out at the last-minute on doctors’ advice. A second installment of Usyk vs Dubois could happen soonGetty However, he looks set to return in the summer and there has been talk over an undisputed fight against Usyk, who he lost to in August 2023. However, the WBO have ordered the Ukrainian to commence talks with Parker for a mandatory heavyweight title defence clash. Usyk and Dubois’ teams can submit an exemption to the WBO for their fight to jump the queue. But Usyk facing Parker is the more desired outcome for Chisora as he eyes a shot at IBF glory against Dubois in his farewell fight. He told Ring Magazine: “I don’t see Daniel and Oleksandr fighting right now. What are you going to fight for? Oleksandr has already stopped him. “If he wants to prove he’s the best he needs to defend his title against Joseph Parker. To be the best you have to fight everybody. “He’s boxed Tyson Fury twice, AJ [Anthony Joshua] twice. He’s boxed me once. He’s boxed Daniel Dubois once. “So I think he should give a shot to Joseph Parker now.” Should Usyk vs Dubois not come to fruition, Queensbury chief Frank Warren told talkSPORT that Chisora could be the latter’s opponent instead. “Well, Dubois’ mandatory with the IBF is Derek Chisora, so he may have to do that [if he doesn’t fight Usyk].
