Director Sam Raimi is making his long-awaited return to horror with Send Help, and Deadline reports that Golden Globe nominee Dennis Haysbert (No Exit) has joined the cast.
Haysbert joins previously announced cast members Rachel McAdams, Dylan O’Brien, and Chris Pang.
The upcoming 20th Century Studios project follows “two colleagues (O’Brien and McAdams) who become stranded on a deserted island, the only survivors of a plane crash. On the island, they must overcome past grievances and work together to survive, but ultimately, it’s a battle of wills and wits to make it out alive.”
Character details, of course, are under wraps at this time.
Haysbert is perhaps best known for his role in popular TV series “24”, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination in 2002. The actor more recently appeared in Hulu’s intense thriller No Exit, and also does expansive voice acting work with credits including Masters of the Universe: Revelation and Dead Rising: Endgame.
Sam Raimi most recently directed Marvel’s horror-heavy sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but he hasn’t directed a straightforward horror movie since 2009’s Drag Me to Hell.
Send Help is based on an original script by Friday the 13th (2009) scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Raimi will produce alongside Zainab Azizi under Raimi Productions.
Stay tuned for news on Raimi’s return to horror as details arrive.
