David Beckham Shares Tips for Fitness Transformation Near Age 50

Soccer legend David Beckham is sharing tips for how he transformed his body as he nears age 50.

According to Men's Health, Beckham, who will be 50 on May 2, 2025, has focused on "building up his core."

"The strength work that I do for my core and upper-body helps with the backaches that I’ve got," he told Men's Health in an interview. "When I was playing, the only strength work I did was on my legs. It was never really upper-body."

"It’s about fine-tuning his biomechanics on the major moves and staying consistent," his fitness trainer Bobby Rich told Men's Health.

According to Daily Mail, Beckham also uses a technique called "fitness snacking," meaning he does short bursts of exercise throughout the day. Beckham also undergoes "high-intensity interval training (HITT) and running, sometimes while wearing a weighted vest for extra challenge," Daily Mail reported.

Men's Health noted that the core is more than just the abdominal muscles. It's also "muscles like the transverse abdominis, the obliques, posterior core muscles, and even the glutes contribute to full-body strength and stability," Men's Health noted.

The site gave Beckham's four tips for a fitness transformation after 50, listing calisthenics, strength, cardio and recovery.

Beckham does "pull-ups, hanging knee raises, and pushups most days," the site notes.

He also does "deadlifts, squats, and bench presses," according to Men's Health, which added that, for cardio, he plays "padel, the tennis-squash hybrid" three times a week.

For recovery, he likes protein shakes, ice baths, cupping, and acupuncture, according to Men's Health.
