The Columbus Blue Jackets‘ playoff chances lie in the hands of the Montreal Canadiens, but that hasn’t stopped an unlikely source from trying to do their part.

Needing a Canadiens loss to Carolina on Wednesday to have a chance at the post-season, WSYX ABC 6, ABC News’ Central Ohio branch, sent heartfelt messages to two former Blue Jackets and current Hurricanes — Jack Roslovic and Eric Robinson — asking for them to beat Montreal to give the Blue Jackets a fighting chance.

The forward spent his first seven seasons in Columbus and scored his first NHL goal against the Habs. So naturally, the news station took full advantage of the situation.

“… Wouldn’t it be a fantastic story if you led the Hurricanes to victory and helped out your old pals against the team where you scored your first goal?” the message to Robinson wrote.

Unfortunately for the news station, Carolina’s first-round matchup has already been sealed, and four AHL players have been recalled and are set to play against Montreal, so Robinson and Roslovic’s status in the lineup isn’t 100 per cent.

“… there may be a desire to rest, but this city humbly begs of you to once again play your heart out for the 614,” the news station wrote to Roslovic, who spent four years in Columbus.

It’s not very often local news stations reach out to former players for help, but hey, you got to explore every avenue you can.
