Cheydinhal Recommendation Quest Guide In Oblivion Remastered

To join the Arcane University in Oblivion Remastered, you need to successfully complete all seven "recommendation" quests for the Mages Guild. These quests require you to visit seven cities across Cyrodiil and finish specific tasks for the guild leaders. While some of the tasks are relatively simple, others are not. Cheydinhal Recommendation falls into the latter category, as it can easily bug out in Oblivion Remastered, leaving you unsure of what to do. However, the quest in general is also slightly confusing, so you might simply be stuck at a certain part. Whatever your troubles, we'll show you exactly how to complete the Cheydinhal Recommendation quest in Oblivion Remastered in the walkthrough below. Speak to Falcar and DeetsanTo start Cheydinal Recommendation, go to the Mages Guild in Cheydinhal, which is located on the southeastern side of the city, right next to the Fighters Guild and the Mach-Na's Books shop. Inside the guild, you need to find and speak to a man named Falcar, who is the guild leader. Falcar can be difficult to find sometimes, but his room is located in the basement, so sometimes you'll catch him walking up or down those stairs. Most of the time, Falcar can be found in either one of the ground-level side rooms. When you speak to Falcar, he'll be quite annoyed that you're asking him for a recommendation. Reluctantly, though, he gives you the task of retrieving an item called the Ring of Burden, which another guild member supposedly threw down a well. You can receive a key to the well by speaking to Deetsan, a Mages Guild Argonian who's usually near Falcar. However, Deetsan won't agree to speak to you until Falcar is not nearby. You can wait until nighttime to get Deetsan alone and speak to her. The Argonian will give you a key to the well, but warns you that Falcar might be giving you this task to get rid of you. Deetsan also gives you a Buoyancy scroll, which you'll want to use once inside the well. Head into the Mages Guild WellThe well is located directly behind the Mages Guild. Before you interact with the well to go inside, you want to make a save. This part of the quest can bug out and if you didn't save prior to getting to the well, you might have to redo parts of the quest. In the well, you want to use the Bouyancy scroll that Deetsan gave you, or equip some kind of Water Breathing item or scroll. The Jewel of the Rumare ring you receive from the Go Fish quest in Oblivion Remastered is perfect for this situation. Either way, you'll need to hold your breath for roughly 30 seconds in the well, as it's completely flooded with water. Searching for VidkunAfter using the spell or equipping the item, search the ground for Vidkun's body, who was the member who threw the ring into the well. Once you find the body, search Vidkun to loot the Ring of Burden. The Ring of Burden weighs 150 pounds, which likely exceeds your carrying capacity. You can use a Fortify Strength spell to try to lessen your load, but you can also attempt to make it out of the well if you have enough breath.Fortunately, you can drop the Ring of Burden once the Cheydinhal Recommendation quest updates to say you've found it. Once the ring is gone, return to the Mages Guild. Speak to Deetsan about Falcar and search his roomBack inside the Mages Guild, Falcar is nowhere to be seen, so talk to Deetsan instead. She'll say that Falcar has fled the guild in a rage and that your recommendation might be in jeopardy if Falcar didn't already write it. She asks you to search his room for any written recommendation. If you're still holding onto the Ring of Burden, Deetsan says to simply drop it anywhere, as it was part of a joke Falcare played on you. Falcar's room is located in the basement through a wooden door at the back of the room. Once inside, you won't find any recommendation, but if you manage to lockpick his drawers on the right side of his bed, you'll find something else of interest. Present the Black Soul Gems to DeetsanInside Falcar's drawers, you'll find two Black Soul Gems. Loot these, and your quest will update. Bring the Soul Gems back to Deetsan. Ensure that you don't use the Black Soul Gems to recharge your weapons, as they can be used like regular gems, but they're required to finish the Cheydinhal Recommendation quest. When you bring the Black Soul Gems to Deetsan, she'll be troubled by the news. However, she will offer to write you a recommendation for the Arcane University herself as Falcar is no longer welcome in the Mages Guild. This completes the Cheydinhal Recommendation quest in Oblivion Remastered, and you're now one step closer to joining the Arcane University. If this was your final recommendation, you can immediately travel to the Arcane University, which is located in the southeastern part of Imperial City. Speak to Falcar and Deetsan

To start Cheydinal Recommendation, go to the Mages Guild in Cheydinhal, which is located on the southeastern side of the city, right next to the Fighters Guild and the Mach-Na's Books shop. Inside the guild, you need to find and speak to a man named Falcar, who is the guild leader. The Argonian will give you a key to the well, but warns you that Falcar might be giving you this task to get rid of you. Deetsan also gives you a Buoyancy scroll, which you'll want to use once inside the well.

Head into the Mages Guild Well

The well is located directly behind the Mages Guild.

Searching for Vidkun

After using the spell or equipping the item, search the ground for Vidkun's body, who was the member who threw the ring into the well. Once you find the body, search Vidkun to loot the Ring of Burden. The Ring of Burden weighs 150 pounds, which likely exceeds your carrying capacity. You can use a Fortify Strength spell to try to lessen your load, but you can also attempt to make it out of the well if you have enough breath.

Fortunately, you can drop the Ring of Burden once the Cheydinhal Recommendation quest updates to say you've found it. Once the ring is gone, return to the Mages Guild.

Speak to Deetsan about Falcar and search his room

Back inside the Mages Guild, Falcar is nowhere to be seen, so talk to Deetsan instead.

Present the Black Soul Gems to Deetsan

Inside Falcar's drawers, you'll find two Black Soul Gems.

At the university, enter the Arch-Mage's Lobby and speak to Raminus Polus about your recommendations.
