If he wins that, his price for Cheltenham may well just drop again giving this current 7/2 price a nice bit of value. He didn’t quite seem right that day but knowing the horse if he were to have been there up the straight I have no doubt he would have coasted home. Constitution Hill may be getting older but he’s far from being too old to win these Grade 1’s and his prep races will be a great indicator too. There will be many punters put off forever from backing this horse but his ability is still there, he just didn’t quite have the chance to prove it on the day that mattered. Kopek Des Bordes is into 5/1 after winning the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle in great fashion. He will be along with The New Lion the ones to keep an eye out for over the course of the year to who will have it in them to progress and take the crown from Golden Ace. Lossiemouth is a tricky one, she won the Mares’ Hurdle convincingly and could have been right up there if she went for the Champion Hurdle. She will be just seven-years-old next year and that could well be her prime. L’Eau Du Sud Cheltenham Festival 2025 may be one not to remember for favourite backers but that doesn’t mean Sir Gino shouldn’t be discounted at 3/1 for the Champion Chase. That said, he’s still got a long road to recovery which saw him miss the Arkle due to an infection. I wouldn’t want to be gambling on his condition considering he may not get his full preparation and work in ahead of next year’s festival. So for now, we look at Majborough, Marine Nationale, Jonbon and more at bigger prices. One that I think is a massive price at this stage is L’eau Du Sud. He ran well in what was an incredibly bunched finish for the Arkle, just under two lengths off of Jango Baie. He’s set to prove his ability with another summer to progress and should be on to step up having won four in a row on his first four chase starts. That said, if Sir Gino does get back to full health and manages to get back to being 100% with a couple of prep races too, he should win this given his potential. Grey Dawning Inowthewayurthinkin has been hammered into 4/1 favourite for next year’s Gold Cup. He won 2-2 when he first went up to 3m+ over fences in 2024 and then placed behind a prime Galopin Des Champs in the prep races for Cheltenham where he won the Gold Cup. It was an astonishing performance in a race that just seemed to suit him to be able to push on and establish a dominant win. It showed he could have even more to offer next season especially given his versatility on all types of ground. But with a potential run in the Grand National, being well handicapped, he may be won to side against for now given the 4/1 mark. At the risk of tipping a second grey and a third British-trained horse, Grey Dawning looks to be one the could be overlooked at this stage. He’s 25/1 now but is still unexposed at this trip. The eight-year-old finished just behind Royale Pagaille at Haydock in November 2024 but bounced back after pulling up at Kempton in the King George, to win ahead of Iroko comfortably at Kelso at the start of March. There’s much more to come from this horse who has a great attitude, it’s just as long as the Skelton team aim him for this race next year.
