Chase currently has an extremely attractive (limited time) offer for new Sapphire Preferred cards where applicants can earn 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points, one of the best sign-up bonuses they have ever had.
As always, eligibility varies based on your personal card history, subject to the quirky rules of Chase and you might be able to sweeten the deal even more if you find someone who can refer you with the same offer.
You can find and learn about this offer directly on the Chase website here (no referral link).
Usually, we don’t cover credit card offers, but this one offers an exceptional number of points and is too good not to point readers to it to evaluate whether it makes sense for them.
What makes this offer interesting isn’t just that it’s 100,000 points for the new card, but that it’s the Sapphire Preferred card that only costs $95 to maintain.
The usual offer of 60,000 points has been elevated to 100k during this period which is going to end soon. If there is an opportunity to apply for the card under these circumstances I probably would.
Chase applies some rather restrictive eligibility rules. I myself am not eligible because I had a Sapphire product (Reserve) not too long ago.
A few years ago, Chase revamped both cards and made some adjustments to the annual fee and the points earning rates:
Chase Sapphire Line Revamped With Large Point Multipliers For Travel Purchases & Other Benefits
I always recommend shopping around for the best deal when it comes to credit cards. Maybe you can find a friend with a referral link or some cashback portal that offers you an additional reward in order to sign up.
The minimum spend to get the 100k is US$5000 within three months. That’s pretty much a standard amount these days when it comes to these bonuses.
Conclusion
Chase recently rolled out a 100,000 points offer for new applications of the Chase Sapphire Preferred ($95 annual fee). This is one of the best offers for the CSP that Chase had historically and if you ever entertained the idea of getting a Sapphire care then this might be the best time to pull the trigger.
Overall, the difference between the Chase Sapphire Reserve at $550 and the Preferred at $95 is pretty much a wash, considering the super flexible $300 travel credit and the Priority Pass. I’d usually suggest to apply for the reserve but with this elevated points offer for the Preferred I’d do that and then maybe upgrade the card next year if you want to keep it.
