Canadiens’ Patrik Laine out vs. Flames with illness

The Montreal Canadiens will be without star forward Patrik Laine as they take on the Calgary Flames Saturday night.

Laine will not play with an illness, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

The 26-year-old has 14 goals and 24 points through 34 games in his first season with the Canadiens. Laine is averaging 14:26 of ice time per night.

He will be replaced by Michael Pezzetta.

After missing the start of the year due to a knee sprain suffered in a pre-season contest against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Laine returned to the lineup in early December.

The six-foot-four Finnish winger hasn’t found the back of the net in his last four games.

You can watch on Sportsnet East and Sportsnet West as the Canadiens visit the Flames Saturday on Hockey Night in Canada, or stream the action on Sportsnet+. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. MT.
