The Montreal Canadiens got some encouraging news at practice on Monday.

Defenceman Kaiden Guhle, wearing a regular jersey, took part in his first full practice since undergoing surgery to repair a lacerated quadriceps muscle on Jan. 29.

The 23-year-old skated for the first time back on March 7. General manager Kent Hughes said at the time that he was not certain if he would be able to return this season.

With Montreal occupying the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, Guhle could present a welcome addition to its playoff push.

Guhle will travel with the Canadiens who start a four-game road trip on Tuesday against the St. Louis Blues.
