Tennis icon Serena Williams will also join Clark in what is expected to be a panel discussion on women’s sports and the league’s aspirations around flag football. Former Giants quarterback Eli Manning and Bronocs co-owner Mellody Hobson will also be on the panel. The inclusion of Clark comes as a result of her unprecedented ascent through college basketball and into the WNBA en route to becoming a global superstar. Her arrival into the league has coincided with record viewership, attendance and revenue for her own team the Indiana Fever, as well as other teams across the WNBA. Flag football is highly important to the NFL. The sport will be at the upcoming 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. It’s also a sport that is highly popular among young boys and girls, and the NFL has also previously suggested it would be open to professional flag football teams. “Flag football is a high priority of ours. Back in 2023 when asked about possibility playing in it, Mahomes signalled he is eager to play a part. “I definitely want to,” the 29-year-old told reporters in 2023. “NFL football, American football, has taken to further parts, all the way across the world, with flag football coming to the Olympics. “I think it’s really cool because football is a great game that has given me so much, and I want to make sure everyone gets the same experience that I got growing up.” “I know there’s not, like, linemen blocking for you. I’ll be 31, 32 years old, so if I can still move around then, I’m going to try to get out there and throw the football around, maybe in LA.” Other NFL stars like Tyreek Hill, Micah Parsonsm and Jalen Hurts have also expressed interest in suiting for Team USA. “It’d be a great honour to be able to represent and have the opportunity to have a gold medal,” Hurts said at a press conference in February 2025 when asked about possibly playing in it.
