Brooklyn Mirage reopening with renovation & safety improvements following 2023 deaths nearby
The capacity of the dance floor is also expanding, from 4,500 to 6,250.

Brooklyn Mirage, the outdoor portion of the sprawling Avant Gardner complex in Bushwick/East Williamsburg, will have a new look when it reopens for the season on May 1. According to a press release, the renovation is “inspired by operatic grandeur,” with a dance floor that expanded from 4,500 capacity to 6,250, and newly-installed opera-style balconies. Josh Wyatt who came onboard as CEO in October, told Billboard, “It’s a huge dance floor, really, the largest in New York City.” The space is also getting a 30k resolution wraparound LED wall that runs the length of the venue, with a “fully kinetic floor-to-ceiling shutter system that creates a 270-degree virtual environment,” and a custom built L-Acoustics sound system with “over 100 precision-calibrated speakers and subwoofers strategically placed throughout the venue.” See renderings below.
Following the deaths of two men in 2023 who were found near the venue, Wyatt addressed plans for enhancements to venue staff and security, arrival and drop-off areas, cell phone coverage, and neighborhood safety in a letter on social media in December. He says now that included in the renovation will be new perimeter lighting, clear venue signage, and well lit and monitored rideshare drop-off areas. He also says he and his team are looking into upgrading cell phone service, Billboard reports.
