Hackers Allegedly Selling 3.17 Million Records of Honda Cars India Customers

A hacker operating under the pseudonym “Empire” has allegedly listed a database containing 3,176,958 records from Honda Cars India Ltd for sale on a notorious cybercrime forum.

The leaked data reportedly includes sensitive customer information such as names, aliases, addresses, customer IDs, and contact details like mobile numbers and email addresses.

The breach is claimed to have occurred in March 2025, marking another significant cybersecurity incident in the automotive sector.

Details of the Breach

The hacker’s post on the forum claims to possess detailed records of Honda Cars India customers, with 2,866,348 mobile numbers and 1,907,053 email addresses among the compromised data. A sample of the stolen data was allegedly shared to substantiate the claim.

While Honda Cars India has yet to issue an official statement regarding this alleged breach, the scale and nature of the compromised information could have severe implications for affected customers.

This is not the first time Honda has faced cybersecurity challenges. In 2018, the personal details of thousands of Indian customers were accidentally exposed due to unsecured Amazon AWS S3 buckets linked to Honda Connect services.

Globally, Honda has also been targeted by cyberattacks, including ransomware incidents that disrupted operations.

The automotive industry is increasingly vulnerable to cyber threats due to its reliance on connected systems and digital platforms.
