Brentford 4-3 Man Utd: Bees win seven-goal thriller to continue European push

Brentford held on to secure a thrilling 4-3 Premier League win over Manchester United on Sunday to continue their late European push.

Mason Mount fired the Red Devils ahead from eight yards out in the 14th minute, scoring his first United goal since March 2024, after a superb low ball in from Alejandro Garnacho on the left.

Luke Shaw, who was named as United captain, then scored an own goal before Kevin Schade rose at the far post to head beyond Altay Bayindir.

Schade scored his second goal of the match – another header – to make it 3-1 with Bryan Mbeumo providing the assist and Yoane Wissa netting for the 18th time this season in the top-flight to put the Bees in firm control.

Garnacho reduced Brentford’s lead with eight minutes to play – a screamer from distance which gave Mark Flekken little chance – and Amad Diallo netted in the 95th minute to leave the home fans incredibly nervous.

It ended up being too late for United, though, as Brentford held on to clinch three points in a seven-goal thriller. The result means Thomas Frank’s side are ninth in the Premier League table, just one point behind Bournemouth.
