Three key starters will take the bump for the Toronto Blue Jays in their first road series of the season.
Kevin Gausman, Chris Bassitt and Bowden Francis are lined up to pitch during the Friday-through-Sunday series against the New York Mets.
Gausman, 34, won his first start of the year against the Baltimore Orioles with a quality start of six innings, three hits and two earned runs while striking out four and walking one.
Bassitt, the 36-year-old former Met, will return to Citi Field after spreading eight hits across six innings while allowing just one run in his first start, also a win over the Orioles.
Francis, who pitched Monday against the Washington Nationals, opened his season with 5.1 no-hit innings before allowing a pair of solo home runs. But the 28-year-old allowed no more damage through six full innings and picked up the win, too.
The Mets will counter with Tylor Megill (1-0, 1.80 ERA) on Friday against Gausman. Griffin Canning is probable to start Saturday, and David Peterson is likely to go Sunday.
Gausman, Bassitt and Francis should face a stiff test against a Mets lineup now featuring Juan Soto, who signed a 15-year, $765 million contract with the club in the off-season.
New York sits third in the NL East with a 2-3 record.
