Avalanche assign Gabriel Landeskog to AHL for conditioning

Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog is slowly making his way back to the NHL.
The Avalanche announced Wednesday that Landeskog has been assigned to the AHL’s Colorado Eagles on a conditioning assignment.
Landeskog hasn’t played since the 2022 Stanley Cup Final due to multiple injuries but has been skating regularly with the Avalanche in recent weeks with the intention of returning during the playoffs.
Avalanche coach Jared Bednar hinted that Landeskog could try to get into some AHL games before that season ends, and Wednesday’s move confirms that plan.
“He’s ramped up his days on the ice, the workload in those days,” Bednar said Monday. “Then we just wait for the next day and re-evaluate and see how he responds. Then we make a plan from there.”
Landeskog, 32, has appeared in 738 games over his 11-season career, scoring 248 goals and 571 points.
