The Real defender is facing a lengthy suspension after appearing to throw ice at the referee and shouting aggressively while being held back by histeammates during the closing stages of last night’s thrilling match. Referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoechea also handed out red cards to Jude Bellingham and Lucas Vázquez for protesting. De Burgos wrote in his match report that Rudiger ‘threw an object from the coaching area that didn’t reach me,’ adding that the former Chelsea star displayed ‘an aggressive attitude.’ Rudiger had already been substituted off when he had to be held back by Real players and staff while he held a small bag of ice. He continued to shout at De Burgos. The Germany international must now wait to find out what disciplinary action will be taken against him but apologised for his actions in a shortmessage on Instagram. He wrote: ‘There’s definitely no excuse for my behaviour last night. I’m very sorry for that. We played a very good game from the second half on. The Real defender is facing a lengthy suspension after appearing to throw ice at the referee and shouting aggressively while being held back by histeammates during the closing stages of last night’s thrilling match.

Referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoechea also handed out red cards to Jude Bellingham and Lucas Vázquez for protesting.
