‘Another Simple Favor’ Trails Behind the Original on Rotten Tomatoes Ahead of Its Release

According to the website, the Prime Video-destined follow-up currently holds an 82% critics’ approval rating, falling just two points behind the 84% held by 2018’s A Simple Favor. The margin is close for the sequel to catch up to and possibly pass the movie that came before it by the time it arrives on the streamer in just a few days. Its next gauntlet will be winning over audiences who were less impressed with the first film than critics, with the original holding a 73% audience approval rating. Depending on what tricks and treats Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick have up their sleeves this time, the percentage could easily swing in one direction or the other. One promising sign for the new movie is that the sequel is already nearly 10 points up from its very first reactions, which landed it with a much less impressive 73% back in March.
