American golfer reveals why he’s playing with his mouth taped shut
An unusual approach...

US golfer Ryan McCormick has gone to extreme lengths to stop himself getting worked up on the course – taping his mouth shut as he has been too ‘angry and mad’.
A strong 2023 secured McCormick qualification for the PGA Tour, but the 33-year-old has dropped back down to the Korn Ferry having endured a chastening few months.
A series of meltdowns and temper tantrums have convinced McCormick to adopt a bold new approach at this weekend’s Club Car Championship, one which had many spectators in Savannah, Georgia, scratching their heads.
A glum-faced McCormick was pictured walking out to tee off with a piece of tape placed firmly across his lips in order to try and keep his cool – and, no, this was not an April Fools’ Day prank.
Unfortunately for McCormick, the tactic does not appear to have worked, yet, with the American opening with a 1-over 73.
He followed this up with a 72, meaning he looks certain to miss the cut.
‘I’ve been having not-so-fun a time this year on the golf course,’ McCormick explained.
