Aaron Jeansonne blog: My first time at F1!

Hi everyone,

It has been quite a start to the 2025 season. I have been very fortunate to capitalize on the momentum in Porsche Sprint/Endurance Challenge at the end of last year and I am now competing in Porsche Carrera Cup North America. To top it off, I am with back-to-back championship winning team Kellymoss and teammates with returning 2023 series champion Riley Dickinson. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people around me as I continue to learn and get up to speed in this Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

Our first event of the season was at the IMSA Sebring event in March. Reflecting on it, I couldn’t have asked for it to go much better. We came out the gate with speed in practice and then were able to qualify on the second row for both races and collect two top-five finishes in my series debut. It was a steep learning curve out there, but I was so pleased that the testing and offseason preparation allowed us to deliver good results so quickly in our efforts together.

Qualifying in this series was a pretty new experience for me. Wanting to be alone rather than being around other cars, and then absolutely maximizing the quick peak of the Yokohama tire was no easy task. The racing was also intense, but thankfully I have gotten quite used to tight racing in MX-5 Cup over the last few years! However, not having the draft factor in this style of racing makes track position that much more important, which then makes the race starts and one-on-one battles even more intense. I just missed getting a podium finish, but it was really cool mixing it up with series front runners and race winners out there.

Next up on our calendar is Miami International Autodrome – with Formula 1! I have never even spectated an F1 event, so for my first time attending one to also be racing in a support series there is a dream come true. With this being a street course, practice one will be my first time ever seeing this place. I may make a couple extra laps on the track walk! It is difficult to say what the expectation is for my own performance in Miami, but I am feeling as prepared and confident as I can and the team has provided everything they can for me to study and arrive with the best chance possible to succeed.

I still can’t believe I have made it this far. In the midst of all the action and stress, I won’t forget to take it all in an spend a moment to appreciate it all. This is really a dream come true.

Thanks for following, as always.
