“A Minecraft Movie” Hits $550M Globally

Warner Bros. Pictures’ “A Minecraft Movie” is well on its way to become the first movie of 2025 to hit the $1 billion mark.

The video game adaptation has now pulled in $550.6 million globally after its second weekend of release – a total now standing at $281 million domestically and $269.6 million internationally.

The film’s gross has already overtaken Marvel’s “Captain America: Brave New World,” which in its ninth week of release now stands at $410 million globally.

In its second weekend, “Minecraft” pulled in $80.6 million domestically (down by 52%) and $79.6 million from 76 international markets (down by 45%). The film is going strong in the United Kingdom ($39.8 million), China ($20.3 million), Germany ($18.9 million) and Mexico ($18.7 million).

Also out this week and faring decently is the vigilante thriller “The Amateur” starring Rami Malek. The $60 million-budgeted film is tracking for a $15 million domestic and $17.2 million overseas haul for a global start of $32.2 million.

Domestically “King of Kings” is set to take second with $19.1 million while “Warfare” released to $8.3 million in fourth place. In fifth is Universal and Blumhouse horror film “Drop” which made $7.7 million domestic and $2 million overseas in its debut. At a tight $11 million budget, it won’t be hurting Universal anytime soon.
