The Hyundai Ioniq 6 has been given an update for the 2026 model year, bringing updates to the streamliner electric vehicle that first made its debut in July 2022.
Hyundai has retained its curvaceous silhouette, with changes to its ‘face’ comprised of a redesigned lighting setup that sees the daytime running lights and main headlamps separated; the DRLs are now above, level with the bonnet shutline, while the main lights are now relocated to the upper edge of the front bumper.
The front bumper gets a redesign with horizontal elements for a visually wider stance. At the rear, the Ioniq 6 dispenses with the spoiler at the base of its rear windscreen on the outgoing version, and the ducktail unit has now been relocated further rearwards, above the full-width tail lamp.
Inside, the cabin of the 2026 Ioniq 6 continues to employ the “Mindful Cocoon” concept of before, and the displays continue to be of a dual-widescreen layout. The two-spoke steering wheel of before is now a three-spoke unit, while revised trim materials bring a more premium feel, says Hyundai.
Here, the centre console layout has been revised, now bringing the pair of cupholders alongside the control switches, compared to the tandem layout of before. A wireless device charger is now located ahead of the cupholders, on the passenger side of the centre console.
The 2026 iteration of the Ioniq 6 also brings a derivative with sportier styling in the Ioniq 6 N Line, which Hyundai says “inherits the design DNA” of the RN22e which was unveiled in July 2022.
The N Line variant brings reshaped front and rear bumpers for a sportier slant, with the wing-inspired design of the front bumper and side sill design working to give the N Line a lower appearance.
Technical specifications for the 2026 Ioniq 6 have yet to be officially revealed, though for reference the current model employs the E-GMP platform with an 800-volt electrical architecture that enables charging at up to 350 kW DC for a 10-80% charge in 18 minutes; 50 kW DC brings a 10-80% top-up in 73 minutes.
In Malaysia, this is offered across four variants; this starts with a 53 kWh battery for the Lite RWD and Plus RWD variants (429 km WLTP) that are capable of 0-100 km/h in 8.8 seconds, while the 225 PS Max RWD (614 km WLTP) does the sprint measure in 7.4 seconds. The top Max AWD (519 km WLTP) with 325 PS/605 Nm does the run in 5.1 seconds; all have a top speed of 185 km/h.
Hyundai has also sneaked the Ioniq 6 N into the background of an image of the latest Ioniq 6 duo, with the rear end of the Ioniq 6 N partially visible. Set for debut in July, the high-performance version in blue can be seen wearing an additional, large rear wing atop an even larger ducktail spoiler, and red contrast elements applied to the lower edge of its bumper, as seen on the Ioniq 5 N.
Specifications for the Ioniq 6 N, too have yet to be disclosed, though a close marker would be the Ioniq 5 N that sports a 650 PS/770 Nm dual-motor AWD powertrain with a simulated eight-speed gearbox feel.
The Ioniq 5 N also uses the 800-volt architecture that enables up to 350 kW of DC fast charging, also enabling 10-80% recharge in 18 minutes while the 84 kWh lithium-ion battery offers up to 448 km of range. This does 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 260 km/h, and packs a list of N-branded features which are likely to feature in the Ioniq 6 N as well; more will be known when this debuts in July.
