Like its catalogue sibling the Yamaha Y15ZR, the 2025 Yamaha Y16ZR ABS is similarly updated for this year, with the price unchanged from 2024 at RM11,398. Pricing is recommended retail and does not include road tax, insurance or registration.
The three new colour options are Fiery Red, Desert Steel and Emerald Pearl, replacing the previous Violet Knight, Ocean Neon dan Mag Grey. Stocks of the Y16ZR ABS are available in all authorised Hong Leong Yamaha Motor showrooms from today, April 8.
Power for the Y16ZR ABS comes from a liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine displacing 155 cc, with SOHC and Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). With a six-speed gearbox equipped with assist and slipper clutch, the Y16ZR ABS gets 17.7 hp at 9,500 rpm and 14.4 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm.
Front wheel ABS is standard equipment, with braking done with single hydraulic discs on the front and rear wheels. Tyre sizing is 90/80-17 in front and 120/70-17 at the back while weight is listed at 119 kg with 5.4-litres of fuel in the tank.
Suspesion use telescopic forks on the front wheel and preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Every Y16ZR comes with a two-year or 20,000 km warranty against manufacturing defects and a disc lock worth RM100 is given free of charge.
