Audi’s rollout of the sixth-generation (C9) A6 began with the Avant (wagon) version back in March this year. Now, the German automaker is preparing to introduce the A6 in sedan form by teasing the model ahead of its April 15 debut.
Along with a date, we also get teaser images of the A6’s rear which looks somewhat familiar to that of the Avant. The brand’s fancy OLED taillights and accompanying light bar are clearly seen, although the former appears to have a different signature to the wagon.
The black ‘A6’ badge is in the same position as that on the Avant and would have been an ‘A7’ if Audi had kept to its a revised naming strategy. In 2023, the company said it would use even numbers for electric-only models and odd numbers for internal combustion engine-powered ones, although it reverted in February this year.
No further details were provided but the company says it put in the work to lower drag for better efficiency while also improving aeroacoustics. It adds that the suspension and drive have been made more balanced to deliver a “more precise, controlled and dynamic the driving experience.”
We expect the same Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architecture and engines of the Avant to be used for the sedan, the latter including a mix of petrol and diesel options, some with mild hybrid technology.
