Weezy will not be performing at the 2025 Super Bowl, with Kendrick Lamar instead chosen to headline at Caesars Superdome.

Wayne is reported to have been considered by Apple Music and the NFL but they opted for Lamar instead – who will also have SZA as a special guest.

New Orleans-born rapper Wayne was left disappointed at being snubbed for his hometown Super Bowl in favour of Lamar who is from California.

And he was not scared to make his feelings known publicly.

He said on an Instagram live late last year: “I thought there was nothing better than that spot, that stage, that platform, in my city. So it hurt, it hurt a whole lot.”

Wayne also commented on the situation at Lil Weezyana Fest in November, saying on stage: “I said that one day I want to be on stage at the Super Bowl in front of my mum.

“I worked my a** off to get to that position but it was ripped away from me.”

After being snubbed for the coveted role, Wayne has since admitted he’s skipping the Super Bowl entirely.

“Y’all know I’m not going to be there this week,” the rapper said.

“Shoutout to New Orleans, but I’ve been working on something very special. I’ve got something exciting coming for you.”

The 42-year-old doesn’t have hard feelings towards Lamar though, despite some lyrics in the latter’s latest album addressing the Super Bowl drama.

But things are all decided now, and Lamar will be performing at halftime of the Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles
