We spent years looking for the perfect US city to live in. After our dream picks let us down, we chose a spot we never expected.
We traveled around America to find the best US city to live in. We visited places like Austin, San Antonio, Nashville, Los Angeles, and Tucson.

- My husband and I took two road trips around the US to decide where we wanted to live.
- We fell in love with several Southern cities but didn't find the perfect fit.
- We've now been living in Tucson, Arizona, for six months and couldn't be happier.
My husband and I built creative careers in London as a musician and a writer, respectively.
Although we loved it there, eventually, we struggled to face the reality of living in one of the most expensive cities in the world. After almost 10 years, we barely had anything saved, felt burned out, and were ready for a fresh start in a new place.
We'd always talked about moving to the US, so during the two-year process of getting visas, we took two road trips around the country to decide where we'd like to live.
For us, the ideal city would have a thriving music scene, creative communities, somewhat low living costs (that would also give us the potential to someday buy a home there), and warm weather.
After some research, we planned a route around our shortlist and added a few must-see tourist spots.
