The Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Aviation, Space, and Innovation is holding a hearing Thursday morning focused on the National Transportation Safety Board's (NTSB) probe into the deadly crash outside of Reagan Washington National Airport two months ago.
Witnesses include NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy, Federal Aviation Administration acting Administrator Chris Rocheleau and Brig. Gen. Matthew Braman, director of Army Aviation at the U.S. Army.
On Jan. 29, an Army BlackHawk helicopter and an American Airlines passenger plane collided over the Potomac River near Washington. All 67 people aboard both aircraft were killed in the crash — the deadliest aviation accident since 2001.
The incident sparked questions around helicopter regulations from height to which airspaces they should be allowed to fly in.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
