Has form lines with Field Of Gold, which has worked out well but he was over five lengths off of that winner. However, that was just his second run on turf and should handle this nicely given the yard’s form and step up to 1m2f. High Stock could be anything after his victory on debut last month but it’s hard to judge on that run despite his win coming after dwelling at the start briefly. If I were taking on that favourite I’d go with Calla Lagoon, but it’s all down to Moore and O’Brien for this one. Illinois Absurde won here in August taking the 1m6f Chester Stakes well ahead of Caius Chorister. He’s been seen over hurdles in his last two races but makes a quick switch to the flat to take on the very consistent Illinois. That colt is just about the favourite despite carrying top-weight, 5lb more than Absurde, which does show how strong he is given he’s also by far the top-rated. Illinois has been placed in the top three in all of his nine career starts including being in the top two in each of his last six. His last two second place finishes have been by a neck to Jan Brueghel and Los Angeles and could come back with too much pace for Absurde. Iskar d’Airy Finest View has a bit to prove over fences with two runs and only a distant third to her name so far. But she’s returning from a small break having last been seen at Hereford back in December. Dropped to a dangerous weight regardless and it’s not her jumping that’s the issue so is one to note for this race if the mare can improve. Iskar d’Airy‘s win at Warwick last month has been boosted by second placed Gwennie May Jem winning two on the bounce since, facing a 7lb rise in total. That’s two wins and a second place in Class 5 chases since March for Iskar d’Airy who was giving away plenty of weight but still ran on well to suggest this 6lb rise may not be enough to stop his progression. Given his weight for this too it’s possible he can make all especially having won over course and distance just under two months ago. He’s still got some improving to do with his jumping and yet still wins so there’s more to offer as he continues to gain confidence and build on that good form. Thursday horse racing tips

  • CHESTER
    2.35: Mount Kilimanjaro 15/8 (1.5pts)
    3.05: Illinois 6/4 (1pt)
  • HUNTINGDON
    3.50: Iskar d’Airy 2/1 (1pt)

Mount Kilimanjaro

Won the very valuable two-year-old Arqana Series at Longchamp back in October.

Illinois

Absurde won here in August taking the 1m6f Chester Stakes well ahead of Caius Chorister.

Iskar d’Airy

Finest View has a bit to prove over fences with two runs and only a distant third to her name so far.
