This Wildly Overlooked 2017 Indie Horror Movie Just Became More Harrowing and Timely Than Ever — You Need to Stream It Now
Ryan Prows' directorial debut with the indie horror-crime comedy Lowlife is more prescient than ever with its subject matter.

When Ryan Prows made his directorial debut in 2017 with the indie dark comedy Lowlife, there was no way of knowing how prescient it would be in its foreshadowing of a dystopian America where ICE agents run rampant and white supremacists can openly flaunt their racist beliefs. Lowlife was never meant to be science fiction, but neither is it of one particular genre, mixing crime comedy with elements of horror, including gore galore. Prows wrote the film with an L.A. collective that included Tim Cairo, Mark Burnham, Jake Gibson, Shaye Ogbonna, and Maxwell Michael Towson, though only Ogbonna acts in the movie.
