This 2020s Horror Is a Retelling of the Classic Possession Story, Complete With Corrupt Priests and Demonic Frights
Agnes has all the elements of a good old classic possession horror movie, with both horror elements and plenty of drama at its core.
Ever since The Exorcist, movies about demonic possession and the religious figures who exorcise them have been a staple of the horror genre. And why shouldn’t it be? Demons make great monsters (the Lipstick-Face Demon from Insidious can go kick rocks, the scary bastard), and the idea of being taken over by something evil is terrifying for anyone, religious or not. But being such a popular subgenre means it’s harder to sort the wheat from the chaff and find a possession movie that truly stands out from the rest.
