‘The Toxic Avenger’ – Entertainment Weekly Reveals First Images of Peter Dinklage’s Toxie!

Troma’s beloved hero The Toxic Avenger returns to the big screen with a brand new reboot of the classic movie from director Macon Blair, with Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting unleashing The Toxic Avenger in wide theatrical release – fully UNRATED – on August 29!

Peter Dinklage takes over the iconic role of The Toxic Avenger in the movie, and our friends over at Entertainment Weekly shared two first-look images of the new Toxie this morning.

Macon Blair tells EW of the new design, “The goal was to try to stay true to the vibe of Lloyd [Kaufman’s] original Jennifer Aspinall/Mitch Cohen creature, with some influence from the Toxic Crusaders cartoon’s look, while also trying to do something new and weird and lovable with Toxie’s design. I love what Millennium FX did with it — part human, part mutant, all heart.”

Bloody Disgusting’s parent company, Cineverse recently acquired all U.S. and Canadian theatrical, home entertainment, and streaming rights to the film through a deal with Legendary Entertainment, ensuring that The Toxic Avenger gets mainstream theatrical release here in the United States. You guys demanded it, and we’re making it happen.

Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, Jacob Tremblay, Julia Davis and Taylour Paige also star in this darkly comedic take on the beloved anti-hero created by Troma back in the 1980s.

Macon Blair’s franchise relaunch comes in the wake of four Toxic Avenger movies released between 1984 and 2000, as well as the 1990s animated television series “Toxic Crusaders.”
