The Kings ‘Perfect Pump’ game is the NBA’s best new halftime gimmick
A hero was born in the Sacramento Kings’ tremendous new ‘Perfect Pump’ halftime game. Who among us doesn’t love the thrill of the perfect pump? I remember hearing about the perfect pump after getting my driver’s license back in the mid ‘00s. There was nothing better than having $20 in your pocket and stopping the gas pump exactly on the number. If you missed, you had to scrounge up some change from the cup holder, or see if you had an extra single in your wallet. Credit the Sacramento Kings for recognizing the delight of the perfect pump, and using it to come up with the NBA’s best new halftime game. The worst kept secret in basketball is that March games don’t really matter outside of some rare exceptions like the Nuggets-Thunder games the last two nights. In reality, the season is about 20 games too long, and most of the NBA’s problems stem from it. I’ll admit this is when I check out a little bit to cover March Madness before coming back just ahead of the playoffs. During the dire part of the season, the Kings found a winner with their perfect pump halftime game. They also gave us a new hero. Watch the viral video of a local man crushing it at the pump. Tommy understands it. pic.twitter.com/5zbrGFT3nq— House of Highlights (@HoHighlights) March 11, 2025 The double thumbs up. The vintage Peja Stojaković jersey. It’s all so good. Hey, you can’t book Red Panda every night. Props the Kings for coming up with a fantastic bit of halftime entertainment. And props to this gentleman for crushing it. The Knicks beat the Kings, 133-104. At least Sacramento found one win on the night.
