talkSPORT betting tips – Best racing bets and expert advice for Newmarket 2000 Guineas
There’s a cracking day of action in store at Newmarket on Saturday afternoon with the 2,000 Guineas headlining an eight-race card. There’s also the Group 3 Palace House Stakes which often produces a smart sprinter to follow for the season. Our expert, Colm Doyle has selections for three of the races from HQ including a value play in the big sprint of the day. talkSPORT BET welcome offer – Bet £10 Get £30 in free bets Saturday’s racing tips 13:10 Newmarket – Unequal Love @ 1/1 14:55 Newmarket – Clarendon House @ 9/1 15:35 Newmarket – Field Of Gold @ 2/1 13:10 Newmarket – Unequal Love In Saturday’s open, Unequal Love could be a tough nut to crack in her bid for back-to-back renewals of the six furlong Listed contest. She won this race in better style than the one length winning margin suggested last season and showed her quality when placing at Group 1 level later in the campaign. She ought to be fit enough to do herself justice on her return given her trainer’s propensity to get them ready first time out and she can make it seven career wins from 14 starts back down at Listed level. 14:55 Newmarket – Clarendon House The first Group race of the day is a cracking renewal of the Palace House Stakes but one that looks capable of going well at rewarding odds is Robert Cowell’s Clarendon House. This son of Mehmas got the better of a top sprinter on the all-weather at Southwell last time out when beating Marshman and he tends to take a sizeable step forward from his first run after a break. He looked as good as ever last season when landing a Listed contest over in Ireland and the early part of the season is usually the right time to catch this seven-year-old. Expect him to get a decent tow into the race from his stablemate Democracy Dilemma, who is an out-and-out speedster capable of running well himself but, unlike the selection, lacks a recent run and Clarendon House should be hard fit after his success on Tapeta last time. Stall six gives his in form jockey, Sean Levey, options drawn right in the centre and he appears to have been underestimated in the betting for this contest. 15:35 Newmarket – Clarendon House John Gosden went agonisingly close to landing the 2,000 Guineas with Kingman 11 years ago and he has an opportunity to right that wrong with one of his progeny on Saturday afternoon. Field Of Gold is the horse in question. He absolutely bolted up in the recognised trial (Craven Stakes) for this race last month and given the way he put his rivals to the sword with a devastating turn of foot, it’s hard to believe any of those re-opposing runners will be capable of reversing the form. There are other threats in the race but Field Of Gold should come on plenty for that outing given that he didn’t look match fit pre-race last time out and his course form can count for plenty here. talkSPORT BET welcome offer – Bet £10 Get £30 in free bets *all odds correct at time of writing and subject to change 18+ New customers only.
