Several of these met in a messy race at Musselburgh 15 days ago and plenty of eyes will be on Kihavah, who produced a career best performance then but will need another under a 4lb penalty. One that may represent some value in the market from an each-way perspective is Story Horse. William Knight’s representative was right back to his best when third at Southwell last time, going well for a long way before tiring in the final furlong. That run gave the impression that he would come on for the race and the form has received a significant boost with the winner going in again since. From the same handicap mark, he looks capable of at least hitting the frame and all his best turf form is on a sound surface, so he ought to appreciate the conditions he’ll encounter on Sunday. 15:35 Newmarket – Chantilly Lace Bookmakers appear to have the feature race down as a bit of a two-horse race between Desert Flower and Lake Victoria but this race has thrown up its fair share of shocks – including last year’s winner, Emalka – and there’s probably more each-way value to be found this time. One that may be capable of outrunning her odds is Chantilly Lace. This once-raced daughter of Lope De Vega showed a really good attitude when making all the running in testing ground at Salisbury on her debut, an effort that is worth marking up given that the runner-up and fourth have both won since. While Chantilly Lace is short of experience, she gave the impression that she knew her job on debut and Ralph Beckett has a cracking record with his fillies and mares in Classics, including two Epsom Oaks, last season’s Irish Oaks while he also won the St Leger with a filly – the only trainer to do so in the last 30 years. At 25/1, she may be worth chancing. 2.20 Newmarket – Running Lion Earlier on the card, Running Lion could be a tough nut to crack in the first Group race of the day. John and Thady Gosden’s filly signed off last season’s campaign with a second in the Prix de l’Opera at Longchamp, recording a career best success in the process. She looks capable of getting her head back in front, now dropping down in class with the yard having been in flying form over the last few weeks. talkSPORT BET welcome offer – Bet £10 Get £30 in free bets *all odds correct at time of writing and subject to change 18+ New customers only.
