T-Rex legend Marc Bolan and screen icon Audrey Hepburn to be honoured with new London blue plaques.
The two figures are among several who the English Heritage say have made a significant impact on London’s cultural landscape. The plaques are awarded based on public suggestions.
Hepburn spent her early years in London during which she switched from ballet to acting. It was during her time in the capital that she landed her first major stage and screen roles. Hepburn will be commemorated with a blue plaque in Mayfair.
Bolan, the charismatic frontman of glam-rock band T-Rex, was known for his flamboyant style and shape-shifting music. He will be honoured with a plaque at one of his former addresses in West London.
The charity paid tribute to both Hepburn and Bolan as well as other figures who won awards including poet and campaigner Una Marson, ballet pioneer Alicia Markova, novelist Barbara Pym and artist Graham Sutherland.
