'Snow White' Stumbles Past Final Global Box Office Milestones After Disastrous Theatrical Run
Disney's Snow White remake is crossing a big milestone at the global box office, but is unlikely to earn its budget back as its theatrical run ends.
One has to wonder how Snow White's tragic commercial performance will impact star Rachel Zegler's career and Disney's future with live-action remakes. She was thrown under the bus after trolls targeted her for making pro-Palestine comments ahead of the film's release, and its subsequent underperformance was unfairly blamed on her. It isn't her first major bomb; Zegler also headlined Steven Spielberg's West Side Story re-imagining a few years ago. Combined, both films couldn't even crack the $300 million mark worldwide, even though West Side Story was much more well-received and even earned Zegler a deserved. As it concludes its theatrical run and hopes to get a new lease of life on streaming and transactional platforms, Snow White has passed what will likely be its final global box office milestone.
