‘Selfless, humble’ – Harry Kane barely touched the ball in most memorable Bayern Munich game and fans loved it

Harry Kane made a hugely positive impression on Bayern Munich fans during one match this season where he didn’t even score a goal. It marked the first major honour victory of the 31-year-old’s career, during a season in which he’s scored 37 goals across all competitions. Whilst Bayern fans have admired his consistency in front of goal, his play outside of the attack has also received plaudits. So much so that a 0-0 Bundesliga draw against their title rivals Bayer Leverkusen in February emphasised his popularity in Bavaria. Honigstein told talkSPORT Breakfast: “He’s been so consistent and he does more than score, he’s two players in one. “He’s often a no.10 who drops deep, his build-up play is fantastic, and also his defensive play… “Perhaps his most memorable performance came in a 0-0 draw against Leverkusen where he didn’t score, where he hardly had a touch. “He was in his own box most of the time and playing like a centre-back and being so selfless, and so humble. I think that is something that people in Germany especially appreciate. “I mean, we all love the flair players, we all love the scorers, but if there is someone who does all that but at the same time puts in a shift and helps out his teammates. “And goes back, and is the first guy to the ball when it’s the defensive corner, and tries to always help out the midfield.
