Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Release Date Information

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra was officially announced on January 17, 2024 at its Unpacked event in San Jose. The company also announced the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus alongside it. As well as teased the Galaxy Ring, which became available later in 2024.

Pre-orders for the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the rest of the Galaxy S24 series started that same day. The Galaxy S24 Ultra was released on January 31, 2024. From that point on, you’ve been able to walk into virtually any retailer or carrier store and pick one up.

At launch, the Galaxy S24 Ultra was priced at $1,199. However now, you can typically find it severely discounted, as the Galaxy S25 Ultra has replaced it. And most of the US carriers will give it to you for free with a trade-in.

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra marked the beginning of Galaxy AI

With the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung also debuted Galaxy AI. Which is their own suite of AI features, partly run by Google’s own models and partly run on Samsung’s models. This included features like Chat Assist, Translate Assist, and more. These features were actually very helpful, instead of just pushing AI in front of everyone because it’s the new buzzword.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra also saw some pretty big upgrades. For starters, it had a flat display, the first “Ultra” phone to use one. It was also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, this is an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 from Qualcomm, which allows it to hit higher benchmark numbers. That was paired with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage. All of this was powered by a 5,000mAh capacity battery with 45W charging.

Samsung did stick with a quad-camer setup here, including a 200-megapixel primary camera, 10-megapixel 3x telephoto lens, a 50-megapixel 5x periscope telephoto lens, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens. Which is capable of shooting up to 8K at 30fps, or 4K at 120fps.
