The Phoenix Suns‘ push for a playoff spot just took a hit.

Leading scorer Kevin Durant is expected to miss at least one week and miss the team’s upcoming three-game road trip due to a left ankle sprain, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Monday.

Durant suffered the injury in Sunday’s 148-109 loss to the Houston Rockets.

The Suns’ superstar fell to the floor with 6:57 left in the third quarter after he stepped on Rockets forward Jabari Smith Jr.‘s foot. Durant got to his feet, but could not put weight on his left leg.

Durant finished with 11 points in 23 minutes, but the Rockets were already well ahead, having taken a 78-49 lead at halftime.

The 14-time All-Star is averaging 26.6 points, six rebounds and 4.2 assists per game for the Suns this season.

Despite Durant’s impressive numbers, Phoenix has disappointed in 2024-25.

Heading into Monday night’s action, the Suns sit on the outside looking in of the Western Conference. They are 11th with a 35-40 record and 1.5 games back of the Sacramento Kings for the final spot in the NBA’s play-in tournament.
