Report: OLB Khalil Mack re-signs with Chargers on one-year deal

It’s the return of the Mack.

Nine-time Pro Bowler and future Hall of Fame outside linebacker Khalil Mack is set to re-sign with the Los Angeles Chargers on a one-year, $18 million deal, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday.

According to Rapoport, the deal is fully guaranteed.

Mack, 34, has continued to be productive in his three years playing for the Chargers, tallying 31.0 sacks and six last season. He has been named to the Pro Bowl all three years since being traded to the team ahead of the 2022 campaign.

The former defensive player of the year has a lengthy resume in the NFL. His 107.5 career sacks and 32 forced fumbles have helped him earn three first-team All-Pro, one second-team All-Pro, and nine Pro Bowl selections.

Mack began his career with the Oakland Raiders after being drafted fifth overall out of Buffalo. Following four years in Oakland, he was dealt to the Chicago Bears, where he spent four more years.

The decision to re-sign Mack comes after the Chargers opted to release five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Joey Bosa last week.
